San Luis Obispo County Supervisor Frank Mecham and local rancher Dee Lacey are the point people for Paso Robles 125th Anniversary Celebration that kicks off New Years Eve and runs through 2014, according to a city news release.
Events planned include a free fireworks show over the City Park on New Years Eve, a gala fundraising dinner and an official birthday celebration, according to the city.
The pair will lead the communitys fundraising effort to raise an estimated $40,000 for the yearlong public celebrations, according to the city. Additional funds raised will go to local historical organizations.
Were hoping to raise as much as possible and raise awareness and funds for the Historical Society, Pioneer Museum and Pioneer Day, said city Tourism Coordinator Shonna Howenstine.
Firestone Walker Brewing Co. is producing a special beer for the city's anniversary, and Hope Family Wines has offered to do a commemorative wine; both will be available for sale to the general public and as a benefit of sponsorship, according to the news release.
