Let Mason move forward

CambriaJune 16, 2013

John Mason, former SLO EMT/firefighter, had a clean record prior to this regrettable incident at a local SLO restaurant. He was not on duty at the time of the incident. It was an unfortunate situation that Mr. Mason and Jory Brigham, I am certain, will always regret.

The court proceedings ended in a mistrial; our district attorney declined to retry the case. I believe that if the District Attorney’s Office thought it could win the case with another trial, it would have certainly retried the case, but the DA declined. The city of San Luis Obispo fire chief rehired him.

Let Mr. Mason, who was not proven guilty by a jury of his peers, do his job. If Mr. Mason does not abide by the conditions he has agreed to, he will be released without any consequence to the city of San Luis Obispo.

My bet is on Mr. Mason.
