Coast Union softball players among tops in county

Bucio and Plasencia receive honorable mention status

Graduating senior Gabby Bucio and senior-to-be Cristina Plasencia were listed on the honorable mention list on the San Luis Obispo Tribune All-County softball team released Sunday, June 9.

Bucio, who had been named Coast Union High School’s Most Valuable Player for the 2013 season, played first base for the Lady Broncos and had a batting average of .379. Bucio scored 30 runs, knocked in 31 runs and stole 18 bases for Coast Union, which won the Coast Valley League with a 10-0 record.

Plasencia, who played at the catcher position, played errorless ball all season. She had a .407 batting average, scored 32 runs, and drove in 27 runs. Her on-base percentage was .500 and she stole a dozen bases. Plasencia was named the Outstanding Defensive Player for the 2013 team.
