Rationality needed

CambriaJune 10, 2013

Well, the APCD vote on not supporting the Children’s Bill of Rights has me fired up! All of the silly statements that have been indicated lately about the United Nations Agenda 21 made me actually research it.

This supposedly horrid document — and I quote the table of contents — includes such things as, but not limited to: protection and promotion of human health; environmentally sound management of solid wastes and sewage-related issues; strengthening the role of workers and their trade unions; strengthening the role of farmers; strengthening the role of business and industry; and children and youth in a sustainable development.

Coalition of Labor, Agriculture and Business people apparently believe that the United Nations has the authority to come in and take away our rights, or take away our children. What hogwash!

What is needed is for more rational members of our county to attend these boards and commissions and during the public comment session refute what these people are saying. I know from experience that they cannot stand up to the light of day. Not everyone need go to every public comment session, but if enough of us can randomly attend, we may be able to stop this ridiculousness.

The Tribune is pleased to provide this opportunity to share information, experiences and observations about what's in the news. Some of the comments may be reprinted elsewhere in the site or in the newspaper. We encourage lively, open debate on the issues of the day, and ask that you refrain from profanity, hate speech, personal comments and remarks that are off point. Thank you for taking the time to offer your thoughts.
