UPDATE 8:45 a.m. Thursday: An 11-year-old Templeton boy is recovering Thursday after getting run over by a car in his family’s driveway, according to the CHP.

Around 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, the boy was either napping or sunning himself at his home on Old Country Road when a relative pulled into the driveway. Not noticing the boy, the driver rolled over him in a Toyota Highlander.

After the accident, the boy, whose name was not released, was immediately taken to Sierra Vista Regional Medical Center in San Luis Obispo. While he complained of pain in his chest and shoulders, only minor injuries — and no broken bones — were reported.

Initial reports incorrectly stated the boy was 6 years old.

Original story: A 6-year-old child was backed over by a vehicle on Old County Road in Templeton at 2:43 p.m. Wednesday. The Templeton Fire Department and CHP has responded to the accident.
