Summer Collegiate Baseball: SLO Blues suffer first loss of season

The Santa Paula Halos scored four runs in the bottom of the eighth inning Tuesday and one in the ninth to down the San Luis Obispo Blues 6-5 in a summer collegiate baseball game.

The Blues (7-1) appeared to be in control when they headed to the bottom of the eighth inning with a 5-1 lead. But the Blues, who had four pitchers strike out 15 batters, also committed five costly errors.

Zack Domingues had two of San Luis Obispo’s six hits. Matt Lynch struck out 10 Halos in 51⁄3 innings of relief for the Blues.

North County falls to Santa Barbara

North County Indians pitchers gave up eight walks, a wild pitch and a balk in a 5-2 summer collegiate baseball road loss to the Santa Barbara Foresters.

The Indians (0-4) outhit Santa Barbara with Michael Frigon and Mac Stuart each having two hits. Stuart also had a double for the game’s only extra-base hit.
