The Pewter Plough Playhouse production of “Audience With Murder” opens a five-week run with a preview performance Friday, May 31, featuring, at left above, Toni Young, Sharyn Young, Craig Brooke and, on floor, Tracy Mayfield. The director is Sandy Bosworth.

The comedy thriller starts with a seemingly innocuous reading of a new script by an amateur theatre group and bursts into a murder mystery. The Pewter Plough is one of the first theatres in California to produce the play, which was first presented at the Edinburgh Festival in Scotland.

Performances begin at 7:30 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays and at 3 p.m. Sundays through June 30 at 824 Main St. For tickets ($15 Fridays, $20/$18 Saturdays and Sundays), call 927-3877 or go to

Tickets to an opening with champagne, dessert buffet and live music with pianist/vocalist Dave Manion on Saturday, June 1, are $25.
