Phone services to the city of Morro Bay came back online at approximately 2:30 p.m. after a technical malfunction brought them down Thursday morning.
The interruption of service made it impossible to call city offices, including the Morro Bay police and fire departments, though emergency 911 lines were not affected, said Morro Bay police Cmdr. Bryan Millard.
The interruption happened after the Primary Rate Interface, the system that allows city offices to send and receive calls, malfunctioned, said Morro Bay City Manager Andrea Lueker. The problem was discovered Thursday morning.
A representative from Utility Telephone, the company that handles phone services for the city of Morro Bay, could not be reached for comment.
