Cherie Jones’ Painting 2 class is nearing completion on a mural adorning the side of the old gym at San Luis Obispo High School.

The 900-square-foot piece — titled ‘Slociety’ — depicts five sectors of the area: agriculture, recreation, tourism, arts and entertainment, and student life.

The class has been working on the mural since April, first outlining in chalk and then filling in with acrylic paint. The mural is expected to be completed next month.
