Letter to the Editor

Respect immigrants

San Luis ObispoMay 22, 2013

After reading Hector Becerra’s May 18 article “Strawberry fields forever,” I hope The Tribune continues to print such informative stories.

Immigrant farmworkers are not only hardworking, but also incredibly caring. I found them welcoming and always willing to help those less fortunate. As a community, we struggle to deal with the homeless while these people care for and protect their own and do not throw them out onto the street like trash.

These wonderful people are always willing to give, even when they have so little. Maybe we should start showing them the respect they deserve.

The Tribune is pleased to provide this opportunity to share information, experiences and observations about what's in the news. Some of the comments may be reprinted elsewhere in the site or in the newspaper. We encourage lively, open debate on the issues of the day, and ask that you refrain from profanity, hate speech, personal comments and remarks that are off point. Thank you for taking the time to offer your thoughts.
