Members of the local law enforcement community gathered Wednesday morning at Mission Plaza for the annual Peace Officers' Memorial Service.

Sheriff Ian Parkinson read the names of seven officers who have died in California in the line of duty over the last year.

The ceremony also included an honor guard led by bagpipes, the singing of "If the Sun Comes Up" by Atascadero police Chief Jerel Haley, the poem "The Monument" read by Morro Bay police Chief Amy Christey, a three-volley salute by California Men's Colony officers and a performance of "Taps" by Al Streder.
