UPDATE 11:30 a.m. Lucia Mar school district spokeswoman Amy Jacobs confirmed that two district students were on the school bus. She said the students were not injured, their parents were notified and they were transported to Mesa Middle School.

Jacobs said the crash happened at Highway 1 and Garrett Lane, which is near Calle Bendita.

Original story: The southbound lane of Highway 1 at Calle Bendita on the Nipomo Mesa was blocked this morning after a traffic collision involving a school bus, according to CHP.

The crash happened about 6:50 a.m. between a school bus and a Mercedes, according to the agency’s traffic information website.

An ambulance was sent to the scene, but no one was transported to the hospital, a CHP dispatcher said. Two children were on the bus, but the extent of any injures to them, the bus driver or the driver of the other vehicle was not immediately known.

As of 7:14 a.m., the southbound lane of the highway was blocked. This will be updated as more information becomes available.
