Arroyo Grande baseball team to open playoffs at home

Arroyo Grande High’s baseball team was rewarded for its strong season Monday when the Eagles were given a home playoff game Friday in the first round of the CIF-Southern Section Division 2 playoffs.

The Eagles (18-6-3), the No. 1 seed from the PAC 7, will host either Burbank (17-8-1) or Cajon (13-13) in a first-round game at 3:15 p.m. Friday. Also in Division 2, San Luis Obispo (15-12) will visit Burroughs (16-11) in a wild-card game at 3:15 p.m. today. The winner will advance to visit 20-2 Los Osos of Rancho Cucamonga in the first round at 3:15 p.m. Friday.

In Division 5 baseball, Los Padres League No. 1 seed Templeton (17-4) will host either Valley Christian (11-15) or Gladstone (15-8) in a first-round game at 3:15 p.m. Thursday.

In Division 7 baseball, Coastal Christian (5-7) will visit New Roads (7-5) in a wild-card game at 3:15 p.m. today, and Coast Valley League top seed Coast Union (13-6) will host Trinity Classical Academy (10-6) in a first-round game at 3:15 p.m. Thursday. The winner of Coastal Christian’s wild-card game will visit Pacific Lutheran (8-6) in the first round at 3:15 p.m. Thursday.

In Division 3 softball, Arroyo Grande (11-14) will visit Peninsula in a wild-card game at 3:15 p.m. today, and Paso Robles (15-9) will visit Harvard-Westlake in a first-round game at 3:15 p.m. Thursday. The winner of Arroyo Grande’s wild-card game will visit North Torrance in the first round at 3:15 p.m. Thursday.

In Division 5 softball, Morro Bay (10-15) visits Ramona Convent in a wild-card game at 3:15 p.m. today, and Nipomo (18-4) hosts Immaculate Heart in a first-round game at 3:15 p.m. Thursday. The winner of Morro Bay’s wild-card game will visit Savanna in the first round at 3:15 p.m. Thursday.

In Division 7 softball, Coastal Christian (7-6) will host Providence in a wild-card game at 3:15 p.m. today, and Coast Union (14-4) will host Einstein Academy in a first-round game at 3:15 p.m. Thursday. The winner of today’s wild-card game visits Firebaugh on Thursday.
