Atascadero's Colby Jack's restaurant in The Carlton hotel announced on its Facebook page Monday morning that it has closed.

In April, owners Jack and Natalie Dorris said they would be closing at the end of May but didn't have a date set.

The Dorrises filed for bankruptcy in March to try to save the business but a disagreement over the lease ultimately led to the restaurant’s demise.

"It is with a heavy heart that we close our doors today," the Facebook post said. "We have enjoyed the privilege of serving and getting to know you and your families over the past five years and cherish the relationships we have created in the process. Our family and our team look forward to serving you again in the future."

In April, Natalie Dorris told The Tribune that they may "be able to continue Colby Jack’s in another space. But now, we’re just trying to (close this chapter).”

The eatery had 30 employees.

The Carlton's restaraunt space has seen two failed enterprises before Colby Jack's.

Now, the future of the space is unknown as owner David Weyrich searches for new tenants.

Coby Jack's also posted that their employee in The Carlton's bakery space, Cassie's Custom Cakes Bakery and Cafe, will remain open "as we wind down the month" and will look for another location in town.
