Allen leads Cal Poly baseball team to win at San Jose State

Cal Poly’s Jimmy Allen was 2 for 4 with two doubles and an RBI as the Mustangs defeated San Jose State 5-2 in a nonleague road baseball game Tuesday night.

The Mustangs never trailed, taking an early lead with a run in both the second and third innings before the Spartans got on the board with a lone run in the fourth. 

Cal Poly (32-14) extended its winning streak to four games. San Jose State (14-34) has lost six straight.

Nick Torres was 2 for 5 with a double and two runs for Cal Poly.

Cal Poly freshman Casey Bloomquist (4-1) allowed four hits in 6 2⁄3 innings, and Reed Reilly picked up his 13th save after pitching a scoreless ninth inning. 

Tommy Pluschkell had an RBI and a run, and Peter Van Gansen had an RBI and a run for Cal Poly.
