Prep Roundup: Arroyo Grande, SLO lead boys entrants in volleyball playoffs

Templeton, Nipomo and Morro Bay also receive postseason berths

The Arroyo Grande and San Luis Obispo high boys volleyball teams will both open the CIF-Southern Section Division 2 playoffs against Channel League teams after the brackets were announced Saturday.

The Tigers (8-5), the No. 3 team out of the PAC 7, will travel to Channel League champion Santa Barbara, while the Eagles (17-2), the PAC 7 champions, will host Dos Pueblos, the No. 3 team out of the Channel league. Both matches will be played Tuesday at 7 p.m.

Templeton (22-3), the Los Padres League champs, will host El Rancho, the No. 3 team out of the Del Rio League, while Nipomo (7-13) will travel to La Serna, the No. 2 team from the Del Rio league. Both teams begin the Division 4 playoffs at 7 on Tuesday night.

Morro Bay (7-6), an at-large seed, will travel to Pomona for a Division 4 wild-card game Monday. The winner will face Bellflower, the No. 1 team from the Suburban league, in the first round Tuesday.

Grois to sign National Letter of Intent

Marti Rae Grois, a goalie for Paso Robles, is expected to sign a National Letter of Intent to play NCAA Division I water polo at St. Francis College.

The two-time all-PAC 7 goalie will sign Wednesday at 3:30 p.m in the Paso Robles High library.

St. Francis, located in New York, is a member of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference.
