The Cuesta College baseball team was once again knocked out of the Southern California Regional playoffs by Cypress, this time losing 5-0 Saturday as the Chargers won for the second straight day to put a quick end to the series.

The Cougars totaled just four hits in a shutout loss at home as the Chargers swept them out of the playoffs for the second consecutive season.

Cuesta (21-17) is now 3-10 against Cypress in the playoffs since 1991.

Lucas Martin went the distance in the loss for the Cougars, his state-leading seventh complete game of the year. Martin gave up five runs — three earned — on nine hits, walked one and struck out two.

The Chargers (25-13) scored twice in the bottom of the first inning on a two-run single from designated hitter Blake Davey.

Cuesta reached base just six times and committed three errors.
