Correction: An earlier version of this story incorrectly stated where the victim was stabbed. He was stabbed in the lower extremities.

A man was stabbed Friday night in a fight in Oceano, according to the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Office.

After the 8:23 p.m. stabbing near the intersection of Ocean and 23rd street, the suspect, Chance Brian MacAire, 23, fled the scene.

The victim was stabbed in the “lower extremities” and taken to Sierra Vista Regional Medical Center. He did not receive life-threatening injuries.

MacAire has no known address but frequents transient camps in Oceano, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies found MacAire in Oceano at 10:50 p.m. near the intersection of Pier and Lakeside avenue.

They chased him into the lagoon at Norswing and Airpark Drive where he refused to come out of the water and threatened himself and deputies with a knife, the Sheriff's Office said.

After an hourlong negotiation, MacAire gave himself up and was taken to County Jail.

He was booked on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon and resisting arrest.
