Fuel no one wants

Los OsosMay 1, 2013

In response to Ed Halpin’s viewpoint (April 24) concerning spent nuclear fuel, here we go again. It reminds me of the horse trader who goes from farm to farm trying to board his horse that has a serious gas problem. There no takers because they don’t want to contaminate their farm and they have heard of other problems associated with extreme horse gas. I believe one town had to be evacuated. One farmer said he could handle the odor, but what would he do with the spent “fuel”?

I wonder whether Mr. Halpin has seen the film “Into Eternity.” It explores nuclear waste storage over the next 100,000 years or so. Perhaps Finland is an option?
