Letter to the Editor

Hate, not ‘Christian’

NipomoApril 28, 2013

I read with interest the April 16 letter by Richard Carroll (“Religious worries”) regarding law enforcement personnel investigating Christian religious groups as hate groups. Carroll cited the esteemed Southern Poverty Law Center as the basis for these investigations. I did a little bit of Internet research and found that the so-called Christian groups being investigated in California include the OMNI Christian Book Club, which espouses the hatred of Jews as the “enemy of Christ,” and the Tony Alamo Christian Ministries, which sells white supremacist literature. Let’s not forget the Voice of Reason Broadcast Network, a “Christian” White Nationalist Movement group that wants an all-white America.

Mr. Carroll, these are not mainstream religious groups being investigated. They are violent, racist groups that preach hate and the overthrow of the government. Next time, do a little bit of research. It only took me about 10 minutes to find that your worries are unfounded.
