Arroyo Grande High's boys volleyball team starts 3-0 at tournament

The Arroyo Grande High boys volleyball team ended the first day of play undefeated Friday at the Crescenta Valley Tournament.

In their first matchup, the Eagles downed Salesin 25-18, 25-13. Cameron Arnet had eight kills, and Chandler Mankins had five blocks and six kills.

Arroyo Grande also beat Taft 25-14, 25-19. Jack Empey had 15 assists, Andrew Midyett had seven kills,

Logan Honeycutt had six kills, and Ian Fillerup had six digs for the victory.

The Eagles then ended the day defeating San Marino 25-19, 25-21. Kyle Skinner had seven digs, and

Derek Hart had four kills in the final game.

Mission Prep 3, Channel Islands 0

Matt Souchek had nine kills, and Sean O’Conner added 25 assists as the Royals won 25-16, 25-14, 27-25 at home.

Paul Tompkins added five kills, two aces, three blocks and 12 digs for Mission Prep (9-8).
