Cuesta swimmers compete at state championships

Cuesta College’s Chris Reddick finished sixth in the men’s 200-yard freestyle in 1 minute, 42.47 seconds at the state championships on Friday.

The Cougars had two in the top 10 in the 100 backstroke, with Georan Meedering finishing fourth (53.42) and Matt Giancanelli finishing seventh (53.29).

The men’s 200 medley relay team of Meedering, Austin Bauer, Dominic Magliari and Luke Walton finished eighth in 1:35.79.

Reddick, Giancanelli, Jackson Petty and Meedering finished fifth in the 800 freestyle relay with a time of 6:54.19.

Karissa Sternfels, the only woman competing for Cuesta, finished 15th in the 50 breaststroke in 32.68.
