Poppies for vets

The American Legion Auxiliary, Unit 66 San Luis ObispoApril 26, 2013

Remember poppies. We distributed poppies, handmade by our veterans in the veteran facilities, close to Memorial Day. The poppies were the visual image of sacrifice since it started in 1921.

The Poppy Day tradition is our oldest program of The American Legion Auxiliary. We take great pride in being a part of this honor to our veterans of all wars and conflicts.

John Nightingale, manager of Vons in The Marigold Center, has graciously allowed us to be in front of their store on May 20 through 24.

Monies received support veterans, youth, scholarships and Veteran Affairs and Rehabilitation.

As Bill Morem stated in his March 28 column, “We owe these vets — and all who are risking or have risked their lives for us — our undying gratitude.”

Please come down to take part with us and receive a copy of “In Flanders Fields.”
