The San Luis Obispo County Democratic Party has endorsed Carlyn Christianson for the San Luis Obispo City Council.

A special vote-by-mail election will be held from May 20 to June 18 to fill the two-year vacancy on the council created by the resignation of Andrew Carter.

Christianson was chosen because of her active role as a community volunteer for more than two decades and her experience in planning and land-use issues, said Mike Heyl, chair of the San Luis Obispo County Democratic Party Endorsement Committee.

“We are eager to get a candidate with her vision, energy and experience on the San Luis Obispo City Council,” said Pat Harris, local Democratic Party chair.

Christianson has also been endorsed by Mayor Jan Marx and Councilman John Ashbaugh.
