UPDATE 11:48 a.m.: The Grover Beach Police Department has identified the two men allegedly assaulted by their neighbor as Benjamin Carroll Sr., 69, and Benjamin Carroll Jr., 32, of Grover Beach.

Original story: A Grover Beach man was arrested Sunday on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, battery and elder abuse after a dispute between neighbors led to one person having a heart attack.

Jerry Odom, 54, of Grover Beach was arrested in the 300 block of Beckett Street after he allegedly assaulted two neighbors, knocking them to the ground.

Police say an argument between Odom and his 69-year-old neighbor and the neighbor’s 32-year-old son resulted in the older man falling to the ground while having a heart attack. A police officer performed CPR on the man, who was not breathing and did not have a pulse, until a medical team arrived and took him to a local hospital. He is listed in critical condition.

Grover Beach police are not releasing the name of the two men assaulted until family members can be notified.

Odom was booked in County Jail with bail set at $50,000.
