Cal Poly Roundup: Mustangs clinch a share of the Big West regular-season men's tennis title

The Cal Poly men's tennis team downed UC Santa Barbara 5-2 on Saturday to earn a share of the Big West regular season title.

No. 25 Andre Dome rallied from a first set loss to win 4-6, 6-2, 6-1, one of four wins in singles for Cal Poly (13-8, 5-1 Big West). Derek Klein also won in three sets for the Mustangs, winning 2-6, 6-1, 6-0.

Dome and Jordan Bridge combined for an 8-3 win as Cal Poly earned the doubles point from the Gauchos (9-13, 2-4 Big West).


Hawaii 2, Cal Poly 1

Hawaii’s Kaia Parnaby scattered four hits in the complete game win in the Mustangs’ final home game of the season.

Chloe Wurst also went the distance for Cal Poly, giving up seven hits, striking out three and walking two. 

Kim Westlund, Mariah Cochiolo, Betsy Colburn and Cami Brown had one hit apiece for the Mustangs (18-29-1, 7-11 Big West Conference). Jillian Anderson scored Cal Poly’s only run on an RBI single by Cochiolo in the first inning.

Jessica Iwata was 3 for 3 with two RBI for Hawaii (37-8, 14-1 Big West).
