Traffic has been backed up for more than an hour on southbound Highway 101 just south of San Luis Obispo after a bus carrying 20 people broke down on the side of the highway, according to the CHP.

A bus reportedly broke down at Avila Beach Drive just after 11 a.m. Friday. Traffic eventually backed up to San Luis Bay Drive as people slowed to see what was happening, the CHP said.

During this time, two separate non-injury collisions occurred as drivers slowed down to look at the bus, a CHP officer said.

The bus passengers are being transferred to another bus, and a tow truck is on the scene.

The type of bus was not immediately available.

No injuries were reported from the bus passengers, officials said.
