Central Coast native Daniel Green has been named the new general manager of downtown Paso Robles fine dining eatery, Artisan, according to a press release.

Among other efforts, he will help with the restaurant’s upcoming move in June from Park and 14th streets to a spot in the downtown square facing City Park at 843 12th St.

Artisan, one of several restaurants that critics say has made downtown Paso Robles a culinary hot spot, is owned by brothers Chris and Mike Kobayashi.

Chris Kobayashi will continue as executive chef.

Mike Kobayashi had held the general manager position since Artisan opened in 2006 but says he’s been looking to bring in someone new to share some responsibilities as he pursues other efforts related to the business and elsewhere.

“With Green on board, they can join forces, with Mike delegating the day to day operations when traveling so he can maintain focus on the many aspects of the family business,” the press release says.

Green has worked at Koberl at Blue in downtown San Luis Obispo. In 2008, he launched The Cass House in Cayucos with Grace and Jensen Lorenzen before leaving the area to work in Manhattan, a spokeswoman for Green said.

Green, who holds a Sommelier certification for wine, will also work as wine director and collaborate in designing craft cocktails at Artisan.
