Spring cleaning time: free pickup coming

ktanner@thetribunenews.comApril 18, 2013

Cambria residents can clean out their garages, spruce up their yards and finally get rid of stacks of old catalogs during Mission Country Disposal’s free clean-up days Monday, April 22, through Friday, April 26.

Garbage, recycling and greenwaste are all included in the freebie, which happens on customers’ regular pickup days, and bulkier items cost far less than usual to discard.

During that week, each Cambria customer can discard up to 12 bundles, bags and containers of trash, which can be mixed and matched. Place excess garbage at the curb in tied bundles, 32-gallon trash cans or similarly sized containers. Each cannot weigh more than 75 pounds; bundles and boxes must be no more than 4 feet long.

Also, each household can set out up to two larger items, which will be hauled off at a cost of $10 per item. Advance arrangements must be made for those. To order large-item pickup, call 543-0875 by 4 p.m. at least 48 hours before collection day.

All items, including waste-wheelers, must be at the curb by 6:30 a.m. on the regular trash day. No hazardous waste will be collected. No plastic or plastic bags should be included with recycling or greenwaste.
