San Luis Obispo Transit, South County Area Transit and the San Luis Obispo County Regional Transit Authority are offering free bus rides on Sunday in celebration of Earth Day.

Residents and visitors can use the free fares to travel throughout San Luis Obispo County, according to a news release.

In addition, the Regional Transit Authority is offering complimentary shuttle rides between the Cuesta College parking lot and El Chorro Regional Park, site of this year’s Earth Day Fair & Music Festival.

San Luis Obispo Transit will also offer free hourly rides aboard its double-decker bus to and from the event. Between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m., riders can board the bus at the San Luis Obispo Transit Center near the intersection of Osos and Palm streets, disembark at Cuesta College and return downtown from there.

The Earth Day festivities begin at 11 a.m. Sunday with an opening ceremony by Chumash ceremonial elder Pilulaw Khus.

Singer-songwriter Aaron Och will perform on the main stage, followed by Burning James & the Funky Flames, Al Millan & the Robots, Natural Incense and Funk in Public. Performing on the acoustic stage are Belly Yellers, San Luis Obispo social media ambassador Bentley Murdock and the Red Willows.

Other highlights include garden tours, children’s activities, an eco marketplace and a climate change slideshow.
