Want to fight fires? San Miguel is looking for volunteers

The San Miguel Fire Department has openings for volunteer firefighters.

Applicants must live within five minutes of San Miguel, be 18 years old or older, have a valid California driver's license Class C or higher with a good driving record and be in good physical condition. Men and women may apply at the Fire Station, 1150 Mission St. in downtown San Miguel. The training is excellent.

New room at The Ranch

The Ranch will soon open a separate dining room next door to the main building. They recently re-roofed the building and are working on the inside.

Meeting on rezoning

On Tuesday, April 23, there will be a meeting at the Community Services District office, 1150 Mission St., to discuss rezoning of some residential areas in town. For information see www.discoversanmiguel or call Laverne Buckman at 467-3467.

Pilgrimages planned

A pilgrimage to Italy, the Czech Republic, Austria and Germany with the Diocesan Choir of Monterey (which includes San Luis Obispo County) is planned for Sept. 12 to Sept. 23. The choir will sing in Rome, Prague, Vienna and Salzburg. For details contact Peter’s Way Tours at 800-225-7662 before June 3.
