Cuesta College women’s basketball coach Ron Barba announced Friday that Alyssa Palma is expected to sign a letter of intent Wednesday to continue her career at Adams State, an NCAA Division II school in Alamosa, Colo., on a full-ride scholarship.

Palma, an Atascadero High graduate, just completed her sophomore season with the Cougars. She helped lead Cuesta to a 19-11 record, a runner-up finish in the Western State Conference Northern Division and a Southern California regional playoff appearance.

She ended her career as Cuesta’s all-time leading  scorer with 766 points, and her career average of 13.7 points per game ranks second all time. Palma also ranks third in career steals (164) and assists per game (3.3), as well as eighth in career shooting percentage (.412). She was first team all-WSC both seasons at Cuesta and was an all-state selection this season.

Adams State went 9-17 this past season, including a 6-16 league record. The Grizzlies graduate only one player off this past season’s roster and can return their top six scorers.
