Visit appreciated

As an American citizen of Cuban descent, I appreciated Assemblyman Katcho Achadjian’s trip to Cuba. The longstanding debate over whether the embargo has “run its course” is very important to the impoverished Cuban people. I personally admire Katcho’s attempt to view and learn firsthand about the true suffering of those oppressed by the communist dictatorship.

To attempt to impugn Katcho and create a nefarious air around this trip does this man a great disservice. His honesty and integrity are impeccable; you can’t even buy him a cup of coffee.

Plus, I have worked for decades alongside Katcho in service to children in need in various endeavors. He has led (without taking credit) so many causes to reach out to the less fortunate. The negative characterization of his trip is both unfair and unjust. His bipartisan support and ability to work with all people for the common good are well known.

Thank you, Katcho, for visiting Cuba. I look forward to the day when all Cubans will be free.
