Paula Lopez

News anchor Paula Lopez will return to her anchor/reporter position at San Luis Obispo’s ABC affiliate NewsChannel 3 at the 6:30 p.m. newscast today.

Lopez, 48, has been on leave since she was reported missing by her family on Feb. 27. Relatives said she had a medical condition which led to a daylong search by the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Department before she returned home safely. It is unclear what that medical condition was.

Lopez will assume her regular duties co-anchoring the 6:30 p.m. and 11:00 p.m. newscasts with C.J. Ward.

“We’re thrilled Paula is now able to come back to work,” said Jim Lemon, KEYT News Director.

“As a veteran member of the team at NewsChannel 3, it’s good to have her back where she belongs, anchoring and reporting the news up and down the coast.”

Channel 3 is owned by News-Press & Gazette Company, based in St. Joseph, MO. NPG acquired the station in November, 2011.
