The Cal Poly softball team split a doubleheader with Pacific at Bob Janssen Field on Saturday, falling 7-0 in the opener before defeating the Tigers 3-0 in the nightcap.

The Mustangs had eight hits, all singles, in the shutout loss but were unable to capitalize on their chances, leaving 10 runners on base.

Tori Shepard got the win for Pacific, striking out four and walking one in seven innings.

Chloe Wurst, who would earn the win in the nightcap, got the loss for Cal Poly, giving up four runs — all earned — on five hits in 2 1⁄3 innings.

In the nightcap, Wurst went the distance, scattering five hits and striking out two in the shutout for the Mustangs.

Jillian Anderson and Kim Westlund each went 2 for 4 for Cal Poly. Anderson had two RBI, Westlund had the other, and Whitley Gerhart was 1 for 2 with a run scored for the Mustangs (16-21-1).

Cal Poly will look to take the series from the Tigers for the first time in three seasons in the series finale today at noon.
