Woman's body found on beach near UCSB

UPDATE, 7:10 p.m.: The Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office issued a description Saturday evening of the young woman found dead in the water near Campus Point at UCSB in the hope someone can say who she is.

She’s described as a college-aged Caucasian or Hispanic, about 5-foot, 6 inches tall, 107 pounds, with brown eyes and brown hair that hung past her shoulders. She was wearing a purple sundress over a black tank top and black lace-up boots.

She could be from out of the area, Sheriff’s spokesperson Kelly Hoover said in a news release. A large spring break party known as Deltopia is going on in Isla Vista this weekend, she added.

ORIGINAL STORY: The body of a college-aged female was found near the surf-line near UCSB at about 8:20 this morning, according to the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office.

A jogger discovered the body, which didn’t have any identification on it, west of Campus Point.

Circumstances of the death are under investigation. It was not immediately known if the cause was accidental or criminal.
