Wind-blown dust could be a problem at Dunes, Mesa this weekend

dsneed@thetribunenews.comApril 5, 2013

Starting Friday and lasting through the weekend, San Luis Obispo County air quality and health officials are warning the public about blowing dust in the Oceano Dunes and Nipomo Mesa areas.

The National Weather Service predicts wind gusts of up to 30 miles per hour this weekend. Peak dust periods are expected between 1 and 5 p.m.

County officials recommend that people stay indoors when dust is visibly blowing and set air conditioning units to recirculation. Very sensitive individuals such as infants as well as children and adults with existing respiratory or heart conditions may experience health problems during blowing dust periods.
