Templeton wins two games at Atascadero baseball tournament

Templeton High’s baseball team won both games Monday on the first day of the Atascadero Easter Tournament, beating Santa Ynez 9-2 and Rim of the World 14-1.

The Eagles (9-0) were led by freshman Mac Lardner, who threw six innings and struck out five in the win over Santa Ynez, giving up one earned run and improving to 4-0.   

Templeton scored nine runs in the sixth inning while down 2-0, and every player in the lineup scored that inning.

In the second game, Andy Garretson got the win in the rout. Michael Frigon went 5 for 7 in both games combined. Against Rim of the World, Tyrus Yamagata had three RBI and a double.

The Eagles play Ventura at 5 p.m. today at Alvord Field.

Nipomo 11, Morro Bay 9;
El Segundo 8, Morro Bay 7

The Pirates dropped a pair of close games at the Easter Tournament in Atascadero.

Against El Segundo, Morro Bay (5-12) had a 7-3 lead going into the seventh inning but allowed five runs in the top half.

Rajan Singh was 3 for 3, Colt Caravalho was 2 for 2, and Connor McQuaid-Pishione was 1 for 4 with two RBI for the Pirates.

Against Nipomo, Caravalho was 2 for 3 with a double, Zac Barkus was 1 for 3 with three RBI, and Tristin Brown was 2 for 4.
