City of SLO will ticket drivers who text or use cell phone while driving

San Luis Obispo - The TribuneApril 1, 2013

All this month, the San Luis Obispo Police Department will be ticketing drivers who text or operate hand-held cell phone while driving.

Officers will also participate in two “Zero Tolerance” enforcement days, one of which will be held this Wednesday. Drivers who break the law will be ticketed without warning. The minimum ticket cost is $159 with subsequent tickets costing at least $279.

“Our objective as a community should be to do everything we can to avoid another tragedy attributed to distracted driving,” said San Luis Obispo Police Chief Steve Gesell.
