Questions sheriff

San Luis ObispoApril 1, 2013

It seems most letter writers favor Sheriff Ian Parkinson’s vow not to uphold any new firearms regulations that may be passed.

Sadly, this position is based on a perverse and perverted interpretation of the Second Amendment that has been foisted on the American public by the gun manufacturers and their lobbyist, the NRA, only in the past 30 to 40 years.

Aside from the legal, ethical and professional questions raised by his refusal to carry out his sworn duty to uphold the law, regardless of his personal opinions, I wonder which part of the words “well regulated” and “militia” the sheriff and his supporters do not understand.
