CSU Bakersfield wins Cal Poly Match Play Championship

CSU Bakersfield earned a 31⁄2 to 11⁄2 victory over Seattle in the title match of the Cal Poly Match Play Championship on Friday at Cypress Ridge Golf Course.

Weber State defeated the Mustangs “B” team 3-2 for third place, while Fresno State edged the Cal Poly “A” squad 3-2 for the consolation title.

Mark Wyllie and Brandon Shaw won their matches for the Mustangs “B” team. Grant Martens won his match for the Cal Poly “A” squad, and Cole Nygren and Johnny Castles both halved their matches.

The Mustangs return to action April 8-9 at the COG Mizzou Intercollegiate Tournament in St. Louis.
