Letter to the Editor

Hats off to sheriff

Paso RoblesMarch 29, 2013

This is in response to the article in Sunday’s Tribune Opinion section regarding the letter Sheriff Parkinson sent to Vice President Biden.

In my opinion, Sheriff Parkinson has it exactly right. The sheriff fully understands his duties and responsibilities as outlined in the U.S. Constitution and the Second Amendment. He recognizes the power grab in Washington, D.C., to use the Newtown tragedy as a means to infringe upon the constitutional rights of law abiding citizens. He understands his authority to take guns from law abiding citizens is limited by the Constitution.

Hats off to Sheriff Parkinson for having the intelligence and intestinal fortitude to stand up to a federal government that is out of control. The purpose of the Constitution and the Second Amendment is to protect us from a tyrannical government that would take our freedom. Some folks need to realize and accept the fact that occasionally bad things happen in a free society.
