Candace "Candy" Markwith is retiring as CEO of Sierra Vista Regional Medical Center.

Sierra Vista Regional Medical Center’s CEO Candace “Candy” Markwith will retire Sept. 15.

Markwith has been at Sierra Vista since March 2005.

“Candy Markwith has been the major force behind the developments that have allowed Sierra Vista to be so successful in recent years,” said Jeff Koury, senior vice president of operations for Tenet’s California region, in a press release. “Her leadership and vision has shaped Sierra Vista’s award-winning quality programs and provided the community with an outstanding medical institution.”

Markwith, a pharmacist by training, spent more than 35 years with Tenet and its predecessor companies. Prior to coming to Sierra Vista she was the CEO at Redding Medical Center.

A search is under way for her replacement.
