Arroyo Grande tops SLO in boys volleyball match

The Arroyo Grande High boys volleyball team swept its PAC 7 opener at home over San Luis Obispo 25-13, 25-20, 25-21, with Jack Empey recording 25 assists in addition to four kills Thursday night.

The Tigers (5-2, 0-1) had leads late in the second and third sets, but the Eagles rallied each time. Trey Davis led San Luis Obispo with nine kills and eight digs, and Parker Lauritzen had five kills, three aces and two blocks.

Kieran Hansen had 21 assists, and Shea McSorley had seven kills and seven digs for the Tigers.

Chandler Mankins had six kills, and Derek Hart had five kills for the Eagles (6-0, 1-0). Kris Kleinsmith had eight digs.

Templeton 3, Nipomo 0

The Eagles took the Los Padres League match, sweeping 25-7, 25-7, 25-14.

Brandon Buchan led the Titans (2-6, 1-1) with five kills and Tyler Moore added three. Alex Martinez had nine assists.

No other information was provided to The Tribune.

Mission Prep 3, Orcutt Academy 2

Sean O’Conner had 55 assists for the Royals, who defeated the Spartans 25-23, 23-25, 28-30, 25-17, 15-9.

Mission Prep’s Matt Souchek had 16 kills, three aces, five blocks and six digs. Jack Mooney had 15 kills, four blocks and six digs for the Royals (3-4).
