As parents, but more importantly as citizens and human beings, we are heartbroken over the sad fate of Dystiny Myers and horrified by the details of the case and the actions of the persons involved.

What leads anyone to this kind of mindset, and what failure in our society lets anyone think this kind of behavior is acceptable? If you believe in karma, there is a serious reckoning awaiting those involved.

Thank you Jeri Luther for your letter that expressed similar thoughts to ours and motivated us to write. Dystiny and any child deserve support and hope. They and our world absolutely deserve better.

We offer our support to Dystiny’s memory, to her family, and we hope some awareness and good can come from this tragic occurrence.
