Pirates Cove in Avila Beach.

Joe Johnston — jjohnston@thetribunenews.com

I have been jogging at Pirates Cove for four decades. I do not like the proposed “improvements.” I stop there on my way to meetings making them more tolerable.

It is neat looking at the rock strata with each inch equal to 1,000 years, putting humans in perspective. As a biologist, it was neat to talk with the harbor seals, watch pelicans diving, sea otters feeding and see what the waves brought in.

The fancy parking lot and roads would attract people. Keep Pirates Cove rustic and rural.
