A 45-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder Wednesday morning after sheriff’s deputies responded to a report of a fight at a home in rural Arroyo Grande.

A young female called 911 about 5:45 a.m. and said her parents were fighting, according to a news release from the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Office.

When deputies arrived at the home in the 400 block of Corralitos Road, they found two people fighting.

After investigating, they arrested Mary Alyson Bowdey on suspicion of attempted murder and felony assault with a deadly weapon other than a firearm. She was taken to a local hospital and then booked at San Luis Obispo County Jail, where she remained Wednesday afternoon.

The male victim was taken to another local hospital, treated for non life-threatening cut wounds and released, according to the Sheriff's Office. His name is not being released because he is a victim of violent crime, nor was his relationship to Bowdey disclosed, sheriff’s spokesman Tony Cipolla said.

Investigators are still determining whether the weapon used in the alleged attack was broken glass or a knife, Cipolla said, and whether his injuries resulted from broken glass or a knife.

Two children who were home at the time of the incident were not injured and are now in the custody of Child Welfare Services.
