Help plan the Salinas River Trail at meeting tonight in Atascadero

Published: March 18, 2013

A team with a regional transit planning agency is meeting with the public for a second time to help develop a vision for a future trail between Margarita and San Miguel, according to a press release from the San Luis Obispo Council of Governments.

The workshop is planned for 6 to 9 p.m. today at Atascadero City Hall, 6907 El Camino Real in the City Council chambers.

The discussion will focus on alternative trail alignments, trail types and the overall planning process for the Salinas River, a seasonal waterway that cuts through much of the North County.

“The overall goal is a river‐themed, braided, connected trail system that provides a catalyst for economic development and collaborative programs between communities,” according to the planning group's website, http://www.salinasrivertrail.com.

The first workshop was held in December.
