Letter to the Editor

A civil response

TempletonMarch 17, 2013

In response to Paul Jacobus’ March 8 letter admonishing me on my “lack of civility,” let me educate you, sir. When asked about the National Rifle Association’s proposal to place trained, armed guards in our schools, a civil response for Crocker would have been to say, “I’ll have to study their proposal and see if it is feasible,” or words to that effect. Instead, he smirked and said, “We are trying to get guns out of schools.”

Crocker is the one who stepped over the line of civility by painting the other side as idiots and arrogantly responding as he did. He further demonstrated his ignorance by equating guns in the hands of trained guards to guns in the hands of murderous criminals killing children and teachers. I am sorry if the truth made you uncomfortable.
