Motorcyclist killed in crash in Paso Robles

A motorcyclist died Sunday in Paso Robles after he was thrown from his motor bike while failing to negotiate a turn.

The accident happened at approximately 1:15 p.m. Sunday at the intersection of 24th Street and Mountain Springs Road, according to a news release by the Paso Robles Police Department.

Paso Robles authorities said the motorcyclist apparently failed a turn and struck a dirt berm. He was ejected from the motorcycle and sustained major injuries.

The driver was transported to Twin Cities Community Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. His name was being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

He was not wearing a motorcycle helmet at the time of the collision, and it is not known at this time if alcohol or drugs were a factor. The cause is being investigated.
